This property was part of an estate purchased by H.C. Read in 1896. The site was sold by Read in December 1896 to Minnie and Susan Cogswell, daughters of Edward Cogswell, builder of the Marshlands Inn.The site has a narrow frontage of only 40 feet on Bridge Street but is 120 feet deep. The modest two storey cottage was built for the Misses Cogswell in 1897. To accommodate the site the gable end became the main façade. In keeping with the sisters’ modest means there was a minimum of exterior decoration. The design is similar to that of workers’ houses of the period.

A porch was later added to the front of the house with an addition on the second floor designed to increase the size of the bathroom. These additions along with new windows and aluminum siding obscure the original design of the house. At one time there was a beautiful garden at the rear of the property.
This building is within the Town of Sackville Municipal Heritage Conservation Area A.
