METHODIST CEMETERY 1836 This cemetery was established by the Sackville Methodist congregation in 1836. In 1838 a new church was built adjacent to the cemetery replacing a former building across the road at the corner of Bridge and Main, on the site now occupied by the Powell Block. See Sackville Methodist/United Church. Among the graves in the cemetery is that of Charles Frederick Allison, founder of Mount Allison University. The cemetery is marked by two signs: one (left) of wood, situated at the south-east corner, the other (below, left) at the north-east corner. Both bear the same inscription (below). |
