OLD LOWER SACKVILLE
METHODIST CEMETERY
1836This cemetery was established by the Sackville Methodist congregation in 1836. In 1838 a new church was built adjacent to the cemetery replacing a former building across the road at the corner of Bridge and Main, on the site now occupied by the Powell Block.Among the graves in the cemetery is that of Charles Frederick Allison, founder of Mount Allison University.
The cemetery is marked by two signs: one (left) of wood, situated at the south-east corner, the other (below, left) at the north-east corner. Both bear the same inscription (below). |
