The Earliest Houses in New Brunswick’s Earliest Town

A Chronology of Style and Timber Framing

by Paul Bogaard with Ben Phillips

The results from over 20 years of research have assembled into one chronological sequence the styles of dwelling that enabled the early settlement of Sackville, New Brunswick, and its slow but steady growth up to the Victorian era. Inside each of the dozens of houses investigated was uncovered the materials and techniques that have stood the test of time, the logs and brick and hewn timbers that have framed our houses for over a hundred years, and given shape to the lives lived in them.
